Club History

The Beverly Hills Tennis Club is one of Chicago’s preeminent tennis facilities. It is located on a leafy, residential street nestled among countless architecturally significant homes. The Club opened in 1919 as a single court made of crushed stone with galvanized tapes and chicken wire fences. From that humble beginning the BHTC grew; we now have 8 Har-tru courts (4 are lighted for night time play), a Clubhouse, a platform tennis court, an observation porch and a picnic deck.

Players of all skill levels competed here: from Wimbledon champion Frank Parker and Philippine Davis Cup team member Jose Villarette to beginners of all ages. From 1968 until the 1990’s we hosted Chicago District Tennis Association tournaments. Come by any time and you’ll find tennis enthusiasts playing friendly matches, taking lessons or competing in Team Tennis.

Before and after tennis, members can sit on either the deck or the porch overlooking the courts while relaxing. It’s hard to believe that this elegant and historically significant facility is located only 20 minutes from downtown Chicago.

The Beverly Hills Tennis Club is dedicated to the promotion and enjoyment of tennis for our members and for the tennis community at large. Come out and see for yourself!
